The Miorenée Certification Guide
Diamond Certification, Demystified
Understanding diamond certification ensures you receive authentic, high-quality jewelry backed by independent verification — and the confidence to wear it with pride.
"A certificate is not just a document — it is a guarantee. It is the independent voice that confirms what we already know: your diamond is exceptional."
What is a Diamond Certificate?
A diamond certificate, also known as a diamond grading report, is an independent evaluation document created by a gemological laboratory. It provides an unbiased assessment of a diamond's characteristics — including its cut, color, clarity, and carat weight.
Think of it as your diamond's passport — a permanent record of its identity, quality, and provenance that travels with it for life.
The world's most respected gemological laboratories stand behind every stone.
International Gemological Institute
The world's largest independent gem certification and appraisal institute, headquartered in Antwerp with laboratories across the globe.
Gemological Institute of America
Founded in 1931, GIA created the 4Cs grading system that became the universal standard for evaluating diamond quality worldwide.
American Gem Society
Renowned for its stringent grading standards, especially in cut quality assessment. AGS uses a numerical scale from 0 (ideal) to 10, and is particularly recognised for advanced cut grading analysis and precise optical measurements that define a diamond's light performance.
Understanding what every detail on your certificate means.
Carat Weight
The diamond's weight, measured in carats. One carat equals 200 milligrams. This is the most objective of the 4Cs.
Cut Grade
Assesses how well the diamond's facets interact with light. Ranges from Excellent to Poor.
Color Grade
Rates the absence of color. D is completely colorless and most valuable; grades descend through the alphabet.
Clarity Grade
Evaluates the presence of inclusions and blemishes. Ranges from Flawless (FL) to Included (I1–I3).
Measurements & Proportions
Precise dimensions in millimeters, plus depth and table percentages that affect brilliance.
Fluorescence
Notes any visible light emission under UV light. Ranges from None to Very Strong.
Certified with the Same Rigor as Mined Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds undergo the exact same certification process as mined diamonds. Leading laboratories like IGI and GIA evaluate them using identical criteria — the 4Cs — ensuring complete objectivity.
The only difference noted on the certificate is the origin: 'Laboratory Grown.' Every other quality metric is assessed with the same precision and independence.
Same Grading Standards
Evaluated using the identical 4C criteria applied to mined diamonds.
Full Quality Reports
Complete documentation of cut, color, clarity, carat — plus measurements and proportions.
Origin Disclosure
Clearly marked as 'Laboratory Grown' — full transparency about the diamond's creation.
Laser Inscription
A unique report number inscribed on the diamond's girdle for instant verification.
Why certification matters for every piece of fine jewelry.
Quality Assurance
Independent lab verification confirms your diamond meets the highest standards of cut, color, clarity, and carat weight.
